Although fetal MRI is not a new topic, many struggle to establish a program that can offer a comprehensive set of tools to diagnose disease of the fetus. It is well documented that in most cases fetal ultrasound can provide the clinical answer. In those cases in which results are less than conclusive for reasons such as fetal position or beam limitations related to either equipment or maternal condition, fetal MRI has been shown to augment patient care.
In his “How I do it” article Aaron J. Flammang (Siemens Corporate Research, Center for Applied Medical Imaging) provides a practical guide for those interested in performing fetal MRI and shows his proceedings based on his clinical experience.
